Why is a hex socket takedown screw one of the most common upgrades for the Ruger 10/22?
1. The deep hex socket allows for more consistent torque.
How is the Raven Eye Custom Takedown Screw Kit different from the others available?
1. The Raven Eye Custom product is a “Kit”, not just a screw. It includes many extras that are not included in the other brands such as the vibration dampening rings
use this product?
Absolutely not. This part is a "DROP IN PART" that requires no work other
than unscrewing the old takedown screw, and screwing in the new. Why should the trigger guard pins (part B-5) be replaced on the Ruger 10/22? Snap caps allow the tension on the firing pin to be safely released (dry-fired) during storage or transport. Dry-firing on a rimfire rifle without a snap cap is highly damaging to the firing pin. Using a snap cap prevents this damage. The snap caps can be each used many times.
1. Replacement pins are oversized 0.001" to more securely attach the
group assembly to the action.
2. Factory pins are designed for easy removal, not for a secure attachment.
3. A more secure attachment eliminates the slight rotation between the action
and the trigger group that improves accuracy by improving the quality of the
trigger pull.
4. With the installed pins, when the trigger is pulled, some of the “mush” in the
trigger pull is eliminated making it more crisp.
5. Stainless pins will not corrode or rust.
6. No gunsmith required for replacement.
What are snap caps?
What is a bolt buffer, and why is it one of the most common upgrades for the Ruger 10/22?
1. The factory bolt stop pin is made from steel. Its purpose is to stop the
bolt after the semi-automatic action has been reset. It works well, but
has its faults.
2. The metal pin causes a high energy shock due to the rapid dissipation of
the metal to metal contact. Although this is only a 22LR rifle, this shock
can damage optics.
3. The Raven Eye Custom bolt buffer is made of an engineered urethane designed
to dissipate the energy from the bolt impact. This creates a reduction in shock,
noise and recoil.
4. Installation of the bolt buffer can be done in around two minutes. The bolt stop
pin is accessible by simply removing the takedown screw and lifting the stock off.
That’s it! No gunsmith required!
